Rez Entrepreneurship

I was hustling like we do when we’re motivated. Most of the people on my social media timeline are like minded. In fact, I chose them because they are motivated and inspiring.

Here’s my story:

I was selling burgers on the block. I live in the Wanblee. Everyone has food sales to survive. Everyone! But the local food vendor who thinks they have the market cornered showed up at my house to see who we were and what we were doing.

So, I was forced to get legal. No problem. I’ve done it before. The Znack Shack – “Z” for Zephier – is officially a licensed business of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. The other Vendor is called Snack Shack so they’re upset. It’s not even the same spelling. It’s not even pronounced differently. I honestly didn’t know what their name was before I named my business.

I’m a combat vet that has done some stuff. When asked to jump out of a plane I jumped. When they wanted to shoot bullets over our head and blow things up around us I got excited. I’ve been a police officer. I’ve carried the maimed, dead and dying in war. I’m a determined man. I will succeed, especially when pushed and threatened. I’m a survivor and a thriver. I will win.

Znack Shack is now in business in Wanblee, local powwows and flea markets near you. Follow me on Facebook at OZinspires and on Instagram as OZinspires.
