Lloyd Samuel Yankton, Sr.

Lloyd Samuel Yankton, Sr. was born on February 19, 1933 in Fast Horse Creek near Wounded Knee, SD to Albert, Sr. and Josephine LaDeaux-Yankton. Lloyd passed away on September 29, 2017 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Vina Yankton of Kyle, SD; sons, Hobart Yankton and Levi Red Cloud both of Manderson, SD, and Lloyd Yankton, Jr. of Kyle, SD; daughters, Michelle Yellow Hawk of Allen, SD, Lynelle Young and Mattie Yankton both of Kyle, SD, and Malonnie Running Hawk of Rapid City, SD; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Albert, Sr. and Josephine LaDeaux- Yankton; son, Michael Lloyd Yankton; daughter, Rochelle M. Yankton; sisters, Vina Colhoff and Gertrude Swain; brothers, Albert Yankton, Jr., Hobart Yankton, and Bernard Yankton; and grandchildren, Emily Ashmore, Neveah Brink, and Jeremiah Bear Killer.

A one-night wake service was held for Lloyd at 10:00 AM, Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Little Wound School Small Gym in Kyle, SD. Funeral services took place at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Little Wound School Small Gym in Kyle, SD, with Father Ed Hunt officiating and traditional Lakota services conducted by Mr. Rick Two Dogs.

Burial services concluded at the Mediator Episcopal Church Cemetery, Kyle, SD.

Arrangements entrusted with Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD.
