boys high school basketball

SIOUX FALLS - After leading the Rapid City Raiders to a fifth place finish in this year’s State AA boys basketball tournament, senior Mason Archambault earned first team All State AA honors last week following a vote of the coaches and sports writers across the state.

Stevens went into the tournament as the #3 seed with a 17-5 record. In the opening double overtime loss to Pierre, Archambault scored 32 points then helped the team bounce back with wins over Brookings and Huron to take the consolation championship. Mason was his team’s floor leader, average 18 points a game while leading his team in steals and assists.

Todd County Lady Falcons already had a young team this year but got even younger with the addition of 8th grader, Caelyn Valandra-Prue who led her team in scoring, twice hitting 33 points in a game; she helped lead her team to the Sweet 16 where they lost to Dell Rapids. For her efforts this year, Caelyn was named to the Class A second team All State.

Anchoring a team that went to the State A tournament last year and the State B tournament the previous year, senior Tariq Brown Otter led her team in scoring this year and helped them to their regional semi-finals, Brown Otter was named to the Class A third team All State last week.
