Photo by Cora White Horse Photo by Cora White Horse Located in the old Wellness Center (or old clinic for people around my age), northeast of Little Wound School, just across the street from the Little Wound Campus sits a small yellow building. Inside that small yellow building is Charlie’s Hangout. It is a work in progress but it currently open for carry out and delivery.

Charles and Ellen Kieffe are the owner/operators of Charlie’s Hangout. They opened their doors on April 1, 2014. Their menu includes Pizza, Sub Sandwiches, Hot Wings and much more delicious snacks. They offer delivery to a maximum of 15 miles, Ellen laughs and says, “We deliver to people from Porcupine, we just meet them at Sharps.”

They are also currently working on a “take and bake” option, so they can work with SNAP recipients.

Charlie’s Hangout started as and continues to be a business to raise funds for a youth group called the Purple House Club. With fundraising and donations Charlie’s Hangout opened its doors. Currently they are working on a few projects to do more renovations on the building and the trailer house right next door. Ellen explained that they have big plans for these two small buildings and that they are hoping everything will be done soon. Currently they are raising money to create a dining area with Tables and chairs.

Their future plans include: the ToSa Library, computer lab, reading program and sports equipment check out program.

The Purple House Club was started to provide a safe place for kids in the Kyle area and to have something for them to do—Charlie’s Hangout is working toward reaching that goal.
